Miranda quickly spotted Jack, befriending the lonely widower with sweet talk and a friendly arm. Jack’s pulse quickened as they toured the island of Malta at his expense.

 

They enjoyed a game of cards and the evenings were spent playing with an elderly couple who seemed to adore Miranda.

 

As the week went by Jack became more enraptured and confided in the couple that he was going to buy the diamond bracelet she’d admired in the hotel shop.

 

As a lovelorn Jack was leaving he drew Miranda close before boarding the coach. She turned to hunt out the next victim.
