LAURA AND PERCY HAVE NEW NEIGHBOURS

Although the rundown terraced house next door was empty Laura thought she heard a baby crying but Percy said it was the wind whistling through the passage.

Laura was still feeling uneasy when she heard a knock at the door.

“Hi,” said the young lady. “We’ve bought the house next door at a bargain price. We are going to make it smart and homely for our little family to enjoy. We like this street.”

Laura put the kettle on. She wondered what they would do with the pig sty at the bottom of the garden. Percy kept chickens in theirs.
