The uncertainty of the threat of the proposed  reservoir was too much for those nearby villagers looking for more security. The abandonment of  Petros had left Peter to stand guard over the rotting buildings as his own became colder and wetter in the face of council negligence. He was determined to preserve its history and gain support.

His faith in its natural beauty was rewarded when an Arts Fund bought the whole street to develop as a creative centre. Peter was employed to inform the artists of the local history and to guide the increasing number of visitors.
