Out of nowhere the jackboots came marching into Oradour with vengeance in their hearts but the villagers were innocents in the battle of resistance. The pleas and cries were ignored as they were rounded up and slaughtered, some herded together in the church and set alight as the bell tolled.

Job done, the cruel soldiers moved on leaving the buildings smouldering and in ruins. Only four survived.

The President declared that the horror site be preserved as a permanent reminder of the inhumanity. There is an startling silence as people wander in the abandonment wondering how it happened. Very eerie.
